Bossier Parish Sheriff and Booking Reports

Sheriff Julian C. Whittington leads the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office. The main office is at 204 Burt Boulevard in Benton, the parish seat. You can reach them at (318) 965-2203. The sheriff's office is responsible for all booking reports in Bossier Parish, including arrests made in Bossier City. When someone is picked up by any law enforcement agency in the parish, the booking gets processed at one of the sheriff's facilities.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office runs a comprehensive correctional system. They operate two main detention facilities for booking and housing inmates. The Max Security Facility sits at 2965 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing. You can call them at (318) 326-4005. The Medium Security Facility is nearby at 3213 Old Plain Dealing Road, and their number is (318) 326-4400. Both facilities process bookings and keep records as part of the same system.

Under Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 228, every law enforcement officer must book an arrested person right away. That booking record has to be open for public inspection. This is a core part of Louisiana law, and the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office follows it for every arrest in Bossier City and the rest of the parish.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office website has info about the office and its services. The screenshot below shows the sheriff's homepage.

Search Bossier City Arrest Records Online

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office offers online tools for finding booking reports. Their Comprehensive Inmate Lookup system lets you search for people currently held in the parish jail. You can search by name to see if someone has been booked. The system pulls data from both detention facilities. This is one of the faster ways to check for recent arrests in Bossier City.

They also have Clerk Connect for court records. This is a separate tool from the inmate lookup. Clerk Connect shows you case records that come after the booking stage. So if you want to see what charges were filed in court, plea deals, or case outcomes for someone arrested in Bossier City, Clerk Connect is where you look. The booking report and the court record are two different things. One records the arrest. The other tracks the legal process that follows.

The City of Bossier City website has general city info, though it does not handle booking records directly. The screenshot below shows the city homepage.

Bossier City Public Records Access

Louisiana's Public Records Act under RS 44:1 makes booking records open to the public. When you ask for a booking report from Bossier City, the sheriff's office must make it available. RS 44:3 puts some restrictions on certain law enforcement files, but booking logs and arrest data are still public. You do not need to give a reason for your request. Just ask for the records and the office has to respond.

For people who end up in the state prison system, the rules change. Under RS 15:574.12, state corrections records are mostly private. Only limited data is public: the person's age, offense, date of conviction, sentence length, and any misconduct while locked up. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections takes records requests by email at docpublicrecords@la.gov. The VineLink system also lets you search for people in state custody for free.

Booking Reports and Louisiana Law

Several state laws govern booking reports in Bossier City. Article 228 of the Code of Criminal Procedure is the key one. It says officers must book arrested people quickly and keep those records open. RS 44:1 reinforces this by defining public records broadly. Together they make booking data from Bossier City available to anyone.

RS 15:587 is the law that makes Louisiana a closed record state for full criminal histories. The Louisiana State Police handle background checks through the BCII office. A state background check costs $31 and is only available for authorized purposes. You cannot use it for personal searches. The BCII forms page has details about the process and what you need to submit. But for simple booking data from a Bossier City arrest, you do not need a background check. Just contact the sheriff's office or use their online tools.

Note: Bossier City is across the Red River from Shreveport, which is in Caddo Parish, so arrests on the Shreveport side go through a different system.
