St. George Booking Reports
St. George booking reports are a new part of Louisiana's public records landscape. This city just became official in 2024, and it sits in the heart of East Baton Rouge Parish. Right now, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office still runs all law enforcement for St. George. That means booking reports for arrests in the city go through the same system used by the rest of the parish. If you want to search for an arrest or a jail booking tied to St. George, you start with the parish sheriff. The process works the same as it does across East Baton Rouge.
St. George Quick Facts
St. George Booking Reports and Law Enforcement
St. George does not have its own police force yet. The city is brand new. It was incorporated in 2024 after years of debate and legal battles in the southeast part of East Baton Rouge Parish. With about 86,000 people, it is one of the larger cities in the state right out of the gate. But setting up a full city government takes time. For now, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office handles all arrests and bookings in St. George.
The EBRSO can be reached at (225) 389-5000. They run the parish jail and process every booking in their system. When someone is arrested in St. George, the deputy fills out the booking report at the parish detention center. That report goes into the same database used for all of East Baton Rouge. The booking record holds the person's name, charges, date of arrest, bond amount, and other basic facts. Under Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 228, every arrest must lead to a prompt booking. The booking info must stay open for public viewing.
The City of St. George is run by a Transition District as it builds out its government structure. The St. George city website lists the current Transition District members: Norman Browning, Chris Rials, J. Andrew Murrell, Jim Talbot, and William Potter. The screenshot below shows the city's homepage.
The site has links to meeting agendas and minutes from the Transition District. As the city grows, it may form its own police department. Until that happens, all booking reports for St. George come from the parish level.

How to Search St. George Arrest Records
Looking up booking reports for St. George means going through the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. The EBRSO keeps an inmate roster and processes records requests. You can call them or visit in person at the parish jail. Give them the name and date of birth of the person you want to find. They will check the system for any booking records tied to that person.
Louisiana's Public Records Act under RS 44:1 makes booking records public. You have a right to see them. RS 44:3 puts some limits on law enforcement files, but booking logs and arrest data stay open. The sheriff's office must respond to your request. Most responses come within a few business days. If the records are old or hard to find, it could take a bit more time.
You can also use the Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System through VineLink to search for people in state custody. This system updates every 24 hours. It covers state prisons and some local jails. It is free to use and does not need any special access.
St. George Public Records Access
Since St. George is so new, there is no city-level records office. All public records tied to arrests and bookings come from the parish. The East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court keeps criminal case files. The sheriff's office keeps the booking data. These are two different things. A booking report is made at the time of arrest. Court records come later as the case moves through the system.
Under RS 15:574.12, records from the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections are mostly private. The public can only see limited info like the person's age, offense, conviction date, sentence length, and any misconduct while locked up. For anything more, you would need to go through the Louisiana State Police background check process. That costs $31 and is only for authorized uses. It is not open for personal searches.
Note: St. George shares the 311 system with East Baton Rouge Parish for non-emergency service requests.
What St. George Booking Reports Show
A booking report from St. George contains the same data as any other East Baton Rouge Parish booking. The jail staff fill in the details when a person is processed after arrest.
A typical booking report includes:
- Full name and known aliases
- Date of birth and physical details
- Date and time of the arrest
- Charges at the time of booking
- Bond amount if one is set
- Arresting officer and agency
These records help people track arrests in St. George. Family members check them to find out if someone was booked. Others use them to stay aware of local arrest activity. Under Article 228 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, booking records must stay open for public inspection across all of Louisiana. This applies to every arrest made in St. George.
Booking Reports and Louisiana Law in St. George
Several state laws control how booking reports work in St. George. The same rules apply here as in every other city and parish in the state. RS 44:1 says public records are open. That covers booking logs. RS 44:3 keeps some law enforcement records restricted, but booking data is still public. Article 228 of the Code of Criminal Procedure says officers must book arrested people right away and keep those records available for anyone to see.
RS 15:587 makes Louisiana a closed record state for full criminal histories. You cannot get a complete criminal record through a simple public request. Only certain agencies have access to the full data held by the Louisiana State Police BCII office. But booking reports are different from criminal histories. A booking report is a snapshot of one arrest. A criminal history is a full list of every arrest and conviction.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections takes records requests by email at docpublicrecords@la.gov or by mail. Under RS 15:574.12, prison records are private except for a few basic data points. If someone arrested in St. George ends up in state custody, the booking report from the parish stays public but the state prison file does not.
Note: The city of St. George is still in its transition phase and may establish its own records policies as its government develops.
